BRUCE RUBENSTEIN . ARTIST

Born in New York City in 1955, Bruce Rubenstein has been painting since the age of 14. The vibrant city life of the large cosmopolitan served as an inspiration for self-expression. In 1973 he was accepted to the prestigious Parsons School of Design as well as the renowned Art Students League.

Rubenstein's essential belief is that art is created as an emotional reaction to a moment in time, thus there is an innate interconnection, a symbiotic relationship between art and life.

Greatly influenced by Robert Rauschenberg, who mastered The Art of Assemblage, Bruce Rubenstein's work seems to cheerfully accept the chaos and unpredictability of the modern urban experience and tries to find artistic metaphors for it by a distinctive style that mixes painted and found elements in assemblages called 'combines.'

Rubenstein's multidimensional work expresses his ideal of art, which he believes should be about general and fundamental themes, elementary schemes and global visions. Bruce Rubenstein aims to reach beyond painting, whether social, political, para pictorial or personal.
